For our long standing customers our new website may take a while to adjust to. It will for us! Some core elements will be familiar and others may have changed or will change. The old website was functional and robust yet had fallen behind in the looks department. We aim to build on all this and make gradual improvements over the coming weeks and months.
Your account should have made the transition and now allow you to have multiple addresses and add notes to an order. Your order history will be accessible. In the future we want to add a "wishlist" to bookmark titles that you are interested in.
Searching should instantly be easier as searches are made both in the title of the game and it's description. Searching by historical period and manufacturer will become more intelligent so you can quickly find the game you have in mind.
We hope you find the new Second Chance Games experience enjoyable and hassle free.
Second Chance Games has been in existence for about 35 years. What began, for Andy, as a hobby became a business run from his attic which then migrated to a shop. Trade shows were once an important outlet for Second Chance Games. With many things, the majority of orders are via the website to mail order customers.
Over the years Second Chance Games has sold historical and fantasy miniatures, role playing games, collectable card games, euro/family games yet the one prevailing category is the historical board wargame. We now specialise in this area.
Due to the nature of this industry we operate in which is somewhat dominated by US manufactures and titles often having small print runs, the ethos has been to give customers a second chance of owning a game. To accomplish this we try to stock a wide variety of games from a wide selection of wargame publishers. We source games both direct from publishers and also distributors from around the world. Ranging from established large scale companies right down to the small scale self published games. We also trade in second hand historical board wargames.
The business is very much a family run business with Andy at the helm assisted for many years by Simon and more recently Phil and Mark. Mark processes and packs most of the orders and deals with emails and phone calls and ordering in stock. Simon manages stock and offsite sales via Board Game Geek and Ebay whereas Phil maintains our Facebook page. Andy is transitioning into retirement and oversees the accounting and inter business relations.
Our stock inventory is ever changing as new stock arrives and is sent out. What was out of stock one month may well be back on our shelves the following month so keep searching for your favourite titles. We try to keep up with the development of new games. For games in development we often offer a discount for our customers on orders made prior to its release. This helps us determine a titles popularity, allows us to order sufficient quantities and rewards are customers with a discount on the retail price. Fulll details of our terms of service are available here.
